Want to get more involved in your community or learn something new in 2026? Registration is open for the spring Community Journalism “J Lab” certificate course, which starts Thursday, January 22 at the Princeton Public Library from 5:30–8 p.m.

In this free, in-person, eight-evening class sponsored by Mercer County Community College, students learn the basic newswriting and reporting skills needed to cover issues of concern to their community. By the end, successful participants complete a publishable article.

It`s been a big awards season for The VOICE. We earned 25 state and national level awards. In addition to our First Place award in the national Apple Awards competition from the College Media Association, among all the competitions they received first place recognitions in: feature writing, profile writing, arts and entertainment reporting, investigative reporting, photography, online videography, website, crisis reporting, editorial writing, and profile reporting. Congratulations to our latest cohort of the the Community Journalism "J Lab" Program who earned their certificates last night! They presented their final projects, articles covering everything from new warehouses, to free preschool, to vision care for underserved children. This was an amazing, diverse, hard-working group who were the epitome of dedication to their communities.

Yesterday The College VOICE won top honors in the two year student newspaper category at the Apple Awards at the College Media Association conference in NYC. We also won awards in four other categories including first place in opinion writing (for Kemi Olaleye), second in editorial writing (for Sky Johnson), and 2 awards for Managing Editor Valerie Mulrine for her article on a fire near our campus - honorable mention for photography and third place for crisis coverage. It was a big day for this hardworking team! ...
